Prayer for Our Little One

Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessing of being able to carry and care for this child of yours. I recognize that you are the author of our life and your timing is so perfect. Thank you for bringing this sweet baby into our lives in your perfect timing and according to your perfect will. Thank you for knitting this baby together so beautifully and uniquely in the womb (Psalm 139:13). Jesus, I ask that you bring this blessing into the world healthy and strong, and with a big heart.  Lord thank you for giving me a husband, and this baby a father, who will lead, teach, and love with everything he’s got. Thank you for equipping and refining Jean-Luc in preparation for raising our child together. Lord, I pray that our baby would be born into this world blameless and pure, a child of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, where this child would shine as a light in this world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ they may be proud that they did not run or labor in vain (Philippians 2:15-16). Lord protect this little one with your full armor from the moment this baby comes into this world and give this little one your spirit. I pray that this little blessing will come to know how deep and wide, unconditional and unending, your love is (Ephesians 3:18). Lord may this little one be a fiercely burning light, driving out darkness wherever they are (John 1:5). May this child be like an arrow (Psalm 127:4) shot out into the world with purpose to accomplish the work you have for them to do.

Lord may this little one be a compassionate, creative, and courageous child, full of joy and overflowing with peace. Give this miracle a strong sense of noble discernment so that it will not be easily deceived. Bless it with iron friendships – friendships that will refine and sharpen this little one. I ask for your favor over their life Lord. May this little one be a Godly person who leads others to the foot of the cross and loves them the whole way there. Lord, I pray for purity, that this blessing would not be easily tempted but rather be self-disciplined and self-controlled. May their faithfulness to you be unwavering, and devotion to you undivided.  Fill this little blessing with your Holy Spirit to help them through hurt times and hard decisions. May this little one be wise and willing, always listening to you God, and obeying what you have called them to do and who you have called them to be. We pray for good health and a strong capable body that is not hindered, but that is able to do abundantly more than this little one could ever ask or imagine.

May this little spirit be infectious and invite others into the freedom and fullness of Christ – in a field of roses, may it be a wildflower. I pray also for their future spouse. Lord may they have parents that know you intimately and follow you wholeheartedly. May their parents teach and instruct them to walk in your ways and to know and love truth. Father God thank you for loving this child and for being its protector, provider, redeemer, friend, counselor, encourager, Shepard, and King. Remind this little one always that it is more precious than rubies (Proverbs 3:15), beautifully and wonderfully made (Psalm 149:13), and unconditionally loved (Psalm 52:8). Lord, I submit this child of ours to you, may we raise and love this little one in a way that is pleasing to you. In Jesus holy name, Amen.
